MINDFULNESS* Are you becoming upset by thoughts that didn’t used to bother you in the past? Do you become distressed about very minor things that you could brush off quite easily before? Do you find it difficult to detach from churning over ideas about the past or the future? If the above is the case, you may benefit from completing one of our mindfulness courses run by Wendy Jones, Mindfulness Practitioner. Prolonged stress can have a huge impact on the middle part of the brain called the pre-frontal cortex. This can result in memory difficulties, attentional problems, poor mood regulation, and reduced problem-solving ability. Our mindfulness course will help you to develop your attentional processes so that you can focus more on the present moment. Many people recognise that when they become more aware of the present moment they develop a much greater understanding of themselves and appreciate life much more. Mindfulness also helps many people to become much more aware of their stream of thoughts, which assists with detaching from unhelpful or harmful mental processes. *Mindfulness is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a way to prevent depression in people who have had three or more bouts of depression in the past. Course starts: 10.00 am on Saturday the 14th January 2017 and then continues at the same time each week for 8 weeks. Course location: The West Suffolk CBT Service, Angel Corner, 8 Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 IUZ Price: £195 for the complete course To book please call 01284 723948 or email info@westsuffolkcbt.com (spaces are limited) .
